About the Program

What is IMPACT-AD LATAM?

Building upon the successful NIH and Alzheimer's Association funded IMPACT-AD AD/ADRD clinical trials training program established in the United States, IMPACT-AD LATAM leverages their expertise, learnings and adapts to the unique needs, opportunities, and challenges of Latin America.

IMPACT-AD LATAM is a regional AD/ADRD clinical trials training initiative designed to advance clinical trial readiness across Latin America.

Through intensive training and mentorship from regional and international faculty, the program aims to strengthen the AD/ADRD clinical trial workforce across Latin America by building expertise in trial design, implementation, and leadership. The program also seeks to expand clinical trial capacity and support the sustainable growth of AD/ADRD research infrastructure throughout the region.

Frequently Asked Questions

Investigators and research professionals across Latin America who are interested in establishing, strengthening, and sustaining clinical trials in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD). This includes Principal Investigators, research coordinators, physicians, and other members of multidisciplinary research teams who hold a full-time position at an institution in Latin America.

The program is scheduled for March 2027 in Mexico. Exact dates and venue details will be announced in advance.

Yes, invited participants who complete the full program will receive a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the program.

The program will be conducted in English, so applicants are expected to have a good level of English proficiency.

Only accepted and invited trainees and faculty are invited to participate. The IMPACT-AD LATAM program will cover all participation and travel costs for accepted trainees.

Trainees are selected following program review of materials by the IMPACT-AD LATAM application review committee. The committee panel includes faculty and other appropriate experts. Applicants are evaluated on their demonstrated commitment to AD/ADRD clinical trials research, alignment with regional trial development goals, and potential to expand local trial capacity. Selected applicants will be notified in early January 2027.

Applicants must submit: (1) a Personal/Career Statement describing their goals and research interests; (2) an NIH-style Biosketch, maximum 5 pages; and (3) an Institutional Letter of Support from a representative of their institution.
